Mental Health First Aid
Our FAA-accredited courses cover all levels of Mental Health First Aid support, from a General Awareness Course of four hours to a Mental Health First Aid Supervisor Course of sixteen hours.
Level 1
This course is four hours long and suitable for all members of the public. It provides an important introduction for those interested in becoming a Mental Health First-Aider. It includes:

Level 2
This course builds upon the Level 1 Award above and provides learners with a deeper understanding of the most common mental health conditions. It also teaches the skills required to act appropriately should a mental health condition be suspected. It lasts for six hours and includes:

Level 3
This sixteen-hour-long course includes all the information from the first and second awards, and it goes even further, teaching participants about the wide range of mental health conditions, therapies and strategies they will likely encounter. The course is suitable for all people and is especially valuable for those who hold managerial positions or who have responsibilities for implementing a positive mental health culture. It includes:

Ethos-Setting Sessions
These reflective sessions encourage an understanding of the importance of atmosphere and ethos in creating a safe environment where all children and adults can thrive. Grounded in research, the sessions also provide opportunities to develop your own setting to strengthen a positive sense of community and care. They include:

De-escalation and Behaviour as Communication
This course focuses upon recognising behaviour as a form of communication and developing practical strategies to respond effectively. Participants will explore approaches that prioritise safety, reduce risk, and strengthen relationships with those experiencing distress. Grounded in a respectful and supportive ethos, the training provides a tool-kit of verbal and non-verbal techniques for de-escalation and crisis intervention. The emphasis is on building positive team dynamics and maintaining a culture of care while responding to challenging situations. By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

Recording and Reporting
This course explores the essential procedures for recording and reporting incidents within educational environments. Participants will learn how to present information accurately, appropriately, and in line with professional standards. The training emphasises not only compliance with legal requirements but also the importance of effective record keeping in supporting safety, accountability, and best practice.
